I'm watching you...

When you visit metanohi, statistics are saved and kept. All in one, big, invisible text file. Out of reach. With lots of extremly confidential information.

...Not. 

As a matter of fact, metanohi keeps track of very little, basic, anonymous material:

  • The current page
  • The time in which the page was requested.
  • The user agent info
  • The user languages
  • The country of the ip address

All this info is saved in statistics.php, but the text inside the file is hidden. That's simply because I have no interest in the file being indexed by search engines (as they'll probably try to, now that I've linked to the file). Below is what the current page info looks like in the text file:

There is one problem: If metanohi receives a lot of visitors, generating statistics will take a long time. For now, the statistics are generated every 24 hours.

The rest of this page will be full of numbers describing metanohi's visitors. Do they tend to use Firefox more than IE? Or do they use use a GNU/Linux distribution instead of Windows? Read the following to become smart.

Note: The detection of some operating systems does not work. While it is possible to detect Ubuntu (depending on whether the user has Ubuntu addons installed), the user agent strings of Ubuntu derivatives such as gNewSense seem to merely output stuff like "X11; U; Linux i686;".

At one point I thought of producing graphs for the statistics showed on this page, but I just wasn't really in the mood of doing that. It'll wait.

Countries are found through a file containing a lot of IP addresses. It's updated every month or so. This 'work' uses the IP-to-Country Database provided by WebHosting.Info (http://www.webhosting.info), available from http://ip-to-country.webhosting.info.

Screen resolutions will not show right away, as they're saved differently. Screen resolutions are only obtainable via JavaScript, and not all browsers support that. Lynx-like browsers don't even show graphics.

This is of course only for this page. As of this very moment, metanohi has had 2542 hits.

You can make your own filters on findstats.php. It's possible to apply filters that filter based on searching through all of the above types of data.

 

In truth, my webhost has a cpanel with access to Awstats. Awstats provide me with information not directly available here, but it doesn't detect everything as precisely as my script. Haha.
